Dupré Organ Works Vol. 1 - Ben van Oosten

Symphonie-Passion, Op. 23
Évocation, Op. 37
The first disc of Dupré's complete works is played by Dutch virtuoso Ben van Oosten on the Cavaillé-Coll organ at St. Ouen in Rouen, Dupre's native city. The Symphonie-Passion had its origins in an improvisation on plainsong themes which Dupré did on the Wanamaker organ in Philadelphia on his first American tour and later worked out as a formal composition. Dupré wrote and performed Évocation for the inaugural recital after the restoration of the organ at St. Ouen (1941).
