Timothy Edward Smith plays the four-manual 1912 Casavant op. 489 in the large and resonant St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, New Bedford, Massachusetts. Smith played this organ during the 2005 OHS National Convention though this CD, more recently recorded, contains different repertoire. A spectacularly decorated architectural monument, the church recently has been restored, and the organ has more recently been renovated, preserving almost all of its original pipes despite tonal revisions ca. 1929 and 1955. The church is huge, resonant, and lined with angels!LOUIS COUPERIN: Chaconne, trans.by Bonnet JOSEPH BONNET: Nocturne from Douze Piéces, op. 5 GUILMANT: Sonata No. 1, Op. 42 FRANCK: Prelude, Fugue et Variation LEFÉBURE-WÉLY: Offertoire WIDOR: Andante Cantabile & Final from Symphony No. 4 GOUNOD: Funeral March of a Marionette, trans. by Timothy Smith
