Twentieth Century Interpretations Rolande Falcinelli plays works of Marcel Dupré, César Franck and Louis Vierne on the 59 rank Cavailé-Coll/ Merklin & Kuhn organ at the Cathédrale Saint-Jean-Baptiste in Belley, France. The instrument was originally constructed in 1858 by Aristide Cavaillé-Coll with two manuals and twenty-six stops. In 1936 it was restored and expanded by Michel-Merklin and Kuhn. The instrument was then electrified, increased to forty-eight stops and three manuals, while retaining the Cavaillé-Coll voicing. It was restored in 1979, and Rolande Falcinelli re-innaugurated the instrument. These recordings come from the annual Belley Summer Organ Sessions, where Falcinelli gave her students the opportunity to play for an audience, as well as to listen to their teacher play.
