Ancient & Modern Portraits for Organ
Bogusław Grabowski, Director of Music and Principal Organist at St. Mary’s of Assumption Basilica and Co-Cathedral in Gdansk, Poland, shows well the capabilities of the Lewtak organ built for St. Joseph’s Church “On the Hill,” Camillus, New York. The pipework of the Lewtak organ derives from an 1896 Casavant organ, revoiced, as well as from a German maker. The organ has 3 manuals and pedal with 36 stops, suspended mechanical action, and a freestanding case and was completed in 2006. The façade of the case displays both stencilled pipes from the Casavant and newer double-flamed copper pipes. J.
