Anima et Spiritus (The Soul and the Spirit) was composed in May, 2022, and is dedicated to Mary Dolch. The music is based upon Martin Luther's German Magnificat, which is a particularly German version of the ninth tone, or Tonus Peregrinus. Also included is a brief quote from the beinning of Herbert Howells' Magnificat from the St. Paul's Service, a piece which Mary was rehearsing with the Chapel Choir of St. Paul's School just before it's closing in the Covid-19 pandemic. 

The tempo directions throughout are chosen as a tribute to the many and varied qualities so evident in Mary's personality. For organ solo, 2:30.
