Bruckner's Mass in e and Motets
$15.98
Mass in e minor; Locus iste; Os justi; Virga Jess floruit; Afferentur regli; Ave Maria Brucker’s 8-part Mass, first performed in 1869 and revised in 1882, is accompanied by 15 wind-instruments. With its majestic simplicity, subtle text interpretation, and its unique contrapuntal vocal texture, Bruckner’s Mass, according to Gerhard Dallinger, can be “considered one of the most elaborate ecclesiastical masterworks of music history.” The exquisite but difficult motets have won a place in the repertoire of most serious choirs. This performance is by the chamber choir Hortus Musicus of Austria, directed by G. Hallinnger.
