Duruflé: Requiem
Under the direction of Jeremy Backhouse, Vasari Singers, described by Gramophone Magazine as "a consistently outstanding choir,"* here perform choral works of two twentieth century French contemporaries: Maurice Duruflé and Jean-Jacques Grunenwald. Although Duruflé is often far more revered than Grunenwald, the two composers share interesting similarities and were influential in Post-war Paris. Interesting liner notes compare the two. Jeremy Filsell accompanies on the 1995 Marcussen organ at the Tonbridge School Chapel, Kent, England.
