Peter Crompton plays familiar favorites on the 1933 Hill, Norman and Beard organ in the impressive acoustics of the Royal Hospital School Chapel of London. As retired Director of Music at the Royal Hospital School, Holbrook skillfully uses the full tonal resources of this instrument, including the striking solo tuba heard in the Crocker and Walton. “The sonority and smoothly voiced creaminess of the organ is prodigious and its softer colours delight, as do its many varied solo effects” - Paul Hale Track Listing: Franz Liszt (1811–86) Fantasia and Fugue on BACH Robert Schumann (1810–56) Sketch in D flat Jehan Alain (1911–40) Litanies Henri Mulet (1878–1967) Tu es Petra Norman Cocker (1889–1953) Tuba Tune Gordon Balch Nevin (1892–1943) Will o’ the wisp Sigfrid Karg-Elert (1877–1933) Nun danket alle Gott, op. 65, nr 59 Louis Vierne (1870–1937) Carillon de Westminster Noel Rawsthorne (b. 1929) Celtic Lament William Walton (1902–83) Crown Imperial César Franck (1822–90) Chorale No 3 in A minor Louis Vierne Final (from Symphonie 1, Op. 14) Total Playing Time: 75:19 2014 Regent Records Ltd.
