Envisionings
Young virtuoso Dong-Ill Shin performs varied organ works on the massive 191-rank Rildia Bee O'Bryan Cliburn Organ (Casavant Opus 3750, built in 1996) at Broadway Baptist Church, Fort Worth Texas. The organ, the largest in Texas and largest Casavant organ in the world, provides an interesting palette of sounds for the repertoire performed. Shin, whose teachers have included Tong-Soon Kwak, Olivier Latry, Marie-Claire Alain and James David Christie, here performs a work composed by fellow Korean Isang Yun. Yun was abducted, tortured and sentenced to death by the Korean secret agency. He was released, in part due to efforts led by Igor Stravinsky, and a petition signed by György Ligeti and Karl Stockhausen.
