So fine was the music at the 1607 dedication service of St. Gertrude’s Chapel in Hamburg, Germany, that the pastor of a nearby church described it in thorough detail such that all of the works were identified and deployment of musicians within the octagonal building was described. The service was recreated four centuries later.
