Henry Du Mont: Cantica Sacra
Soloists of Chœur de Chambre de Namur perform several selections of Henry Du Mont's Cantica Sacra (1652). Du Mont's work is an interesting blend of tradition and innovation, as it employs both polyphony, a form nearly perfected by Palestrina in years prior, and continuo, of which this work is one of the first publications. Continuo is provided by Stéphanie de Failly, violin, and Françoise Enock, bass. Freddy Eichelberger performs continuo and organ solo on the 1742 organ built by Jean-Baptiste Le Picard at the Church of St. John the Evangelist, Beaufays, Belgium.
