The 1782 Stumm organ has undergone many modernizations throughout its life at at the Abbey Church in Amorbach, Germany. In an effort to create a more Romantic sound, many of the Stumm pipes were lost. The 1982 restoration by the firms of Klais and Steinmeyer returns the instrument to mechanical action, and retains as many of the original Stumm pipes as possible, returning the instrument to its former classical glory.
