¡Bravo Grande!¡Laredo has a new concert hall organ!
David Heller, Professor of Music and University Organist at Trinity University, San Antonio, Texas shows the wide tonal palette of Kegg Pipe Organ Builders Opus 35, recently built for Texas A&M International University in Laredo, Texas. With 4 manuals, 52 stops and 4003 pipes, the organ is a major new musical resource in the Laredo area. This recording begins with a work commissioned by the city of Laredo from Gerre Hancock who, in addition to his famed career and years of service at St. Thomas Church in New York, is a native of Lubbock, Texas. Dr. Heller explores the new organ with a program of familiar works, a chorale setting of his own, and also two less frequently heard pieces by Mexican composer Ramón Noble.
