Christmas from Dublin
Featuring the Saint Patrick’s Cathedral Choir under the direction of Stuart Nicholson with trumpets David Collins and Rick Cowan, horn Bethan Watkeys, trombone Gavin Roche, and tuba Francis Magee. Organist David Leigh plays the 1902 Father Henry Willis organ located at the Cathedral. Christmas from Dublin includes familiar choral works by Willcocks, Britten, and Howells, accompanied by refreshing contemporary settings of traditional texts. The final carol, “Hark the Herald Angels Sing,” is notably set to Handel’s tune Judas Maccabaeus, as traditionally sung during Saint Patrick’s Dublin’s Christmas Eve Service of Nine Lessons and Carols.
